Easy Sub-Prime Mess Explanation
[via - Blogging Stocks] British satirists John Fortune and John Bird clearly explain the sub-prime mess in this skit. Would it be funnier if it wasn't so true?

Snow Sculpture Photoset On Flickr
I'm taking advantage of the long weekend to work on some photos. For those interested, my photo set of the 4th Annual Chicago Snow Sculpting Competition is on Flickr and the winners of the contest are posted on the Snow Visions' website.
I went to the Chicago Auto Show this week. I took my camera with but after a while, my heart wasn't into taking photos. I'm not sure why, but the whole Auto Show kind of got me down. Part of it was the lack of progress on fuel economy I think. I wish more European diesels were coming over and that the GM hybrid system wasn't so underwhelming (wow, an extra 2 MPG - Big Whoop!). Anyway, going to catch up on photo from the auto show next.
My new work project for 2008 is keeping me hopping!

Went to the 4th Annual Chicago Snow Sculpting Competition today as the artists were working on their pieces. I'm going to try to go back out to get some photos of the finished pieces. I've started a Flickr set of the photos for this year's event if you'd like to check them out. More will be uploaded as time permits.

Happy Chinese New Year (Belated)
Happy Lunar New Year! Hope the Year of the Rat is lucky to all my visitors, friends and family.
I picked up this cool 'Year of the Rat' cap at The Wynn, on my last trip to Vegas. As fate would have it, it actually fit (wow!) so couldn't pass it up.

Arlington Heights is taking part in the Solid Waste Agency of Northern Cook County's (SWANCC) compact fluorescent light bulb (CFLs) recycling program along with other area towns. The twisty CFLs can be dropped off at the Arlington Heights Village Hall, but they are not accepting the 4-foot tubes. The SWANCC site has a list of other drop-off points and where you can drop off those pesky 4-foot tubes (like the ones I have been collecting in the basement).
CFLs have a tiny amount of Mercury in them, not enough to be hazardous if broken individually, but thousands/millions in a landfill would add up to toxic mess. So like all the computer/electronic waste, be responsible - save them up - and drop them off so they can be disposed of responsibly.

I Don't Think That Will Ever Be Me
Inga and I are bouncing around the channels watching all the Super-Tuesday coverage. As the various candidates make speeches in-front of screaming uber-enthusiastic supporters; I can't fathom getting that worked up over a politician. I'm trying to think of a situation where I could, but outside of getting paid, I can't see it.
No snags or crowds at the polling place as usual. There seemed to be a lot of people coming and going from the polls, so I have to assume the facility is just well run.

Super Tuesday Video Fun
My Sunday comics are full of Super Tuesday references. Other than the Superbowl (I'm taking the Giants +12 - for entertainment purposes only :p ), it's tops on everyone's mind. So in keeping with the hot theme, here is some campaign fun by Hugh Atkin.
