Woman Dies Holding Wee For A Wii
What a lousy way to go. A woman in Sacramento died this week of a suspected case of water intoxication. She was competing in a local radio station's 'Hold Your Wee For A Wii" contest; a contest to see who could drink the most water without going to the bathroom with the prize being a Nintendo Wii.
Water intoxication, according to Wikipedia, occurs when water enters the body faster than it can leave. Body fluids are diluted, electrolytes are imbalanced, then cells swell and shut down (in a nutshell - read the wikipedia entry for all the details).
Feel free to throw this story in the face of those annoying people who lug around a big bottle of water everywhere and tell you to drink more water. Another coffee please! The caffeine makes me pee can save your life!
